The second stage of the 9th KGC World Ladies' cup has started in Seoul, Korea on Mar. 22.
In the first stage, Moon Dowon 2P of Korea swept the all seven rounds and became a hero of Korea. She eliminated four players of Japan and three players of China. However, her winning streak ended in the first round of the second stage.
Tang Li 2P of China defeated Moon by resignation after 169 moves. Tang Li will play against to Japan's last player left, Yoshida Mika 8P. The next game will be played on Mar. 23, 14:00 (Korean Standard Time), and it will be live broadcast on WBaduk.
The 9th KGC World Ladies' Cup is a ring contest where five representative players of Korea, China, and Japan participate to determine the winner of the country. Each player who wins continues to play opponents from the other two teams, alternating between them until there are no more opponents left.Top prize is 75,000,000 Won (approx. $ 67,000), and for runner up 15,000,000 Won (approx. $ 14,000). Each player is given 1 hour and 3 periods of 40 seconds for the overtime.
