Kong Jie 9p defeated Lee Changho 9p after 308 moves with Black by 1.5 point. This game 2 of the 14th LG Cup World Baduk Championship Best-of-3 Final was held in the Baduk TV studio located in the 1st floor of the Korea Baduk Association building on Feb. 24th.
Not only getting his personal fame, but also Kong Jie 9p is faithful to his role of Chinese player. Currently, the Baduk levels of China and Korea are best in the world and comparable. In this situation, this game between Korea No. 1 VS China No. 1 meant much more than a match. As Kong Jie 9p won this cup, the competitive construction seemed to be broken and better for China.
Moreover, winning 5 Korean players, (Lee Sedol 9p, Kang Yootack 3p, Choi Chulhan 9p, Park Younghoon 9p, Lee Changho 9p) he got a nickname of Korean player killer.
While the opening was plain, the middle game was difficult. Commentators' estimations of the situation were not only one for the middle game. There were various comments about it. Some estimated the situation as similar or white still can try to chase black while the others said it is turned out that black would definitely defeat white. Though there was not a good comment on white side, most of commentators' opinion on the estimation went to be getting comparable.
However, the balance got broke from the end game. Kong Jie 9p made his victory by making a pae on upper-left corner.
For Lee Changho 9p, this lost was so unfortunate. He only got the 2nd place 9 times consecutively for the last 5 years.
