On the round of the top 16 of the 2^nd BC Card Cup World Baduk Championship held in Baduk TV studio located in the 1st floor of the Korea Baduk Association building, Lee Sedol 9p won Kong Jie 9p by resignation after 184 moves and made the top 8.

It was the first game for Lee Sedol 9p to play against a foreign player since he came back. The more important thing is that defeating Lee Changho 9p twice 4 days ago, Kong Jie 9p maintained the best condition. That has pressed Korean Baduk. For that reason people paid attention to the result of this game if Lee Sedol 9p could defeat Kong Jie 9p.

As Lee Sedol 9p won this game, he is leading in their career records against each other by 6-3. Also he stopped Kong Jie 9p's 13^th consecutive victory of international Baduk championships. 

At the same time, Park Junghwan 7p won the round of top 16 against Tuo Jia Xi 3p by resignation after 283 moves.

The situation of the game was unfavorable for Park Junghwan 7p till the middle game. However, breaking white big territory, he steered to victory.

Q.    Commentators' estimations of the opening were unfavorable for white.

     A.    Getting captured the large group in the opening, I almost gave up this game. It was fortunate. Kong Jie 9p might get tired because of LG Cup.

Q.    How do you see Kong Jie 9p and Gu ri 9p's baduk?

     A.    Gu ri 9p's playing style is confusing fight, and Kong Jie 9p's playing style is to build thick territories. Both of them are not easy to play.
