[Fujitsu] New champion, Park Junghwan!
Park Junghwan 9P of Korea won the 24th Fujitsu Cup, defeating Qiu Jun 8P of China by resignation in the title match played on Aug 14. It is his first international title and also the new record of the youngest world champion. The previous youngest world title winner was Lee Sedol 9P.
Park Junghwan born in 1993 and became a professional in 2006. It took only 4 years for him to reach 9dan and 5 years to become a world champion. He used to be called a little Lee Sedol, but now he seems to be a big rival of Lee Sedol.
The 24th Fujitsu Cup is managed by Yomiuri Newspaper, Nihon Kiin, and Kansai Kiin, Sponsored by Fujitsu, and Supported by International Go Federation, Chinese Weiqi Association, Korea Baduk Association, and etc. The winner prize is 15,000,000 JPY (approx. 195,000 USD)
