Iyama Yuta 9P took Judan title from Chang Hsu 9P who had held Judan title for the last two years. In the fifth round, he defeated Chang Hsu by resignation after 223 moves and won the best of five title challenge series, 3-2.

It is Iyama Yuta's first Judan title. Now Iyama Yuta holds two titles; Meijin and Judan.

The 49th Judan gives each player 3 hours and 3 periods of 60 seconds. The winner prize money is 15 million JPY (approx. $182,400).
