46th National Junior Sports Festival to be held in Yesan, Chungcheongnam-do
Baduk games as part of the 46th National Junior Sports Festivalwas held on May 27th-28th in Yesan, Chungcheongnam-do. Around350 people attended this event, including 201 players and 150 guest officials.
In the opening ceremony held at 1pm on 27th, Choi Jong-jun, vicepresident of Korea Amateur Baduk Association encouraged the players, "I hopethe junior players who are the future of Korean Baduk will achieve the truepurpose of the National Junior Sports Festival, as well as building afoundation for their dreams to become the world's best player."
As the result of the games held for 2 days, Seoul Team won the gold medalsfor boys' elementary, boys' junior high, and girls' junior high groups.Gyunggi-do Team won the gold for girls' elementary group.
Individual MVP awards for elementary groups were given to Han Woo-jin andLee Seo-young. For junior high groups, Ahn Yong-ho and Kim Kyung-eun wereawarded. In the awards ceremony, players who made it to top 3 places in eachgroup were each awarded with a medal, certificate, and trophy. For MVP players,trophies and prize money were awarded.
Boys' elementary, boys' junior high, and girls' junior high groups tournamentswere held as round of 17 while girls' elementary group tournament was held asround of 16. Following the National Junior Sports Festival, the 98thNational Sports Festival will be held in upcoming October in Chungju,Chungcheongbuk-do.
The 46th NationalJunior Sports Festival was hosted by Korean Sports & Olympic Committee andco-sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ministry ofEducation.
