2017 Minstry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cup National Students Baduk Tournament
Around 500 students participated in this year's tournament. Distinguished guests and members of the referee body such as Shin Sang-chul, president of KABA, Jeong Jae-jin, vice president of KABA, Kang Jun-yeol, vice president of KABA, Cho Kuk-hwan, chairman of Korea Junior and High School Baduk Federation, and Lee Hyung-roh, head of the referee body and nine members of it to ensure fair competition.
"I thank the minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its staffs for their support." Shin Sang-chul, president of KABA continued. "I can see that the future of Korean Baduk will be bright, witnessing so many students who love Baduk gathered here." Shin encouraged the players.
The tournament was divided into eight groups: Best, College, High School, Middle School, Best Elementary, Elementary Higher, Elementary Lower, Elementary Entry. Kim Dong-hee won the championship for the Best Group by defeating Choi Jae-ho after 145th hand. For the champion, trophy and 1,000,000KRW of prize money was awarded.
Souvenirs have been given to all participants, and photo wall has been set up for photo taking and printing opportunities, earning positive responses from the players and their families.
