The king of Chess; Kasparov came to Korea.
Garry Kasparov 51 years old from Russia is called to be a king of Chess in this generation.
He has kept his best position for 21 years which is the longest year. He got spotlight when he was 12 years old and won the Chess championship in 1975 and regarded the grand Chess champion when he was 17 years old.
He has had a great match with DipBlue from IBM in 1997 for 2 years and got a lot of people's eyes on it. In the first match, he won with the total score 3 wins draw 1 lose in 1996. But he lost in the next game in 1997 agaisnt DipBlue as it has been developed two times better than before. But all people could know because of this great match.
He came to Korea to attend 2013 7even World Youth Mindsport Cup.
Is it first time to come to Korea? What do you think about the Korea Chess position in the world?
It is my first to time to come here, and I feel really happy. Even Chess is not very popular in Korea, but it is matter of a view point. Chess is very popular in western countries like Europe and America while there are many similar games in East Asia. Baduk is also one of the games which is similar to Chess.
I want to spread Chess here in Korea. To do it, we need official support and infrastructure. I believe Chess is very proper for Korean and I hope to do something for it.
Can you play Baduk?
Of course I can play Baduk. But I am not good at it. Chess is very logical while Baduk is abstract which means very difficult.
Can you tell me about good things of Chess?
Chess helps you to be logical and read the whole situations. In current generations, people need to raise ability to read the situations and pattern. Furthermore, I believe Chess can do more.
In Baduk pro, the best time is in 20s. What about Chess players?
