It has been 16 years. Korea has had very good years in world championships for last 16 years. So the result in LG Cup on 12th July is kind of nightmare for Korea. No Korea players could go into round 8 in the world championship.
The reporters in the tournament place started to say that it could be possible but we did not expect at all. Korea Baduk has been stepping back since many years ago.
Also the pro accepted this result as a shocking and also granted.

"Korea has been behind from long ago"
"Korea has been behind from long ago by China. But people did not realize it because Lee SeDol and Park JungHwan etc few of top players has had goo d results. But the basement in Korea Baduk is totally different. The gap between Korea players and China players are large, especially the young players. I could not help myself but to surprise whenever I go to China and see young players Baduk.

"We need to care but not too much worry about. "
"I can't remember when we had this result. I am also very surprised to get this result. I think this is possible but so embarrassed as it is very new for us.
But I believe this is just temporary one. We can get this sometimes but not all times. But if we get this next tournament then we need to rethink this matter. We need to take care but should not afraid too much about this matter.

"Agree that China is stronger than us but get confidence in us."
"Even it has been 16 years but the symptom has been all around us. I do not think Korea level is behind China but problem is that Korea players started to feel burden before the games. Last some years, China has showed better results in world championships than Korea. So each Korea players feel burden to be good which sometimes not good for condition and confidence. I hope all Korea players should get more confidence and overcome this mood.
And Korea should accept that China is stronger than Korea. When Korea could accept the true, then we can follow and overcome China again. KBA should prepare next 10 years and consider many things Korea Baduk. We need to train young players to improve and explore their potential.

"I do not feel China is stronger than us. But they seem to be better in world championship recently. I agree Korea Baduk is focusing on fast games while China players get balance in fast game and 3 hours games. I think we need to make balance between fast game and long time games well.

"I think China players have more players in overall. I can see young players in China can get train well and improve really fast.
"This result in LG Cup is very new and I did not expect. I think we should study together but some players prefer to study alone. We should make more group study and self study and let them choose to improve. |
