Kim JiSuk needs two wins from now on.
Kim JiSuk won against Lee SeDol by 1.5 points by black in the first game of the 18th GS Caltext Cup on 16th.
The fight started really fast in the beginning, but it ended pretty late. Most players expect it to be ended before 200 moves, but it was over a lot.
The fight started after 20 moves when Kim JiSuk 8Dan tried to cover Lee SeDol 9Dan's group. And it was spread to whole board.
It was an unusual game in the top players' game as it was spread from 20 moves to 200 moves. There were chances for both players as it was too complicated to read all variations during the game. It was very surprised that the game was pretty closed even the fight was all over the board.
Hong KiPue 5Dan commented that Kim JiSuk8Dan controlled the game by arranging well in the middle game. I feel like I watched three games as it there were too many fights and variations to read.
Kim JiSuk 8Dan said in the interview that I think there were many mistakes as the variations were too complicated from the beginning. When I had better position by pae in the middle game, I thought I could win the game. And Lee SeDol 9Dan thought he was leading the game which helped me a lot. Anyway I will prepare next game well.
