Bochumer Bambus 2012 was held from 6th-7th of October. It is one of the biggest tournaments in Germany, and this year also 110 players participated in. Furthermore, this tournament has been annually held from 1997; at first the name was just Bochum tournament.

The winner of the tournament is Franz-Josef Dickhut 6D. He won 4 games and lost 1 game like other 2nd (Matthias Terwey 4D) and 3rd (Johannes Obenaus 5D) placed players, but he gained the bigger points and got the victory. Franz-Josef Dickhut is the German champion since 2010, and he has the highest ranking points of EGD in Germany.

The first places of the U18 championship were taken by Jonas Welticke 4D and Moritz Keilmann 3D.
