Hane Naoki 9P became the new Gosei winning the title challenge match series, 3:2. He lost the first two games of the best-of-five series but won the last three games in a row. Therefore Hane Naoki won the Gosei for his first time, and Sakai Hideyuki lost his title just after a year he won.

Gosei is organized by News Go Federation of 12 provinces and sponsored by Japan IBM. The winner prize is 800,0000 JPY (approx. 104,000 USD)
