Gu Li 9P and Heo Youngho 7P both had 1 win in the first round of the 15th Sumsung cup semi finals. Gu Li had a complete victory over Kim Jisuk 7P. On the other hand, the game between Heo Youngho and Junghwan 8P was in tension. Park Junghwan has bigger territories than Heo Youngho till middle game; however, Heo Youngho turned the tables by making brilliant moves and finally caught a big group.

The 15th Samsung Cup is managed by JoongAng Dialy and KBS, supported by Samsung. Each player is given 2 hours and 5 times of 1 minute for overtime. The champion prize money is 200 million Won (approx. 171,673 $), and the tot al prize money is 606 million Won (approx. 520,000 $)
