The matches of the second rounds are played on Oct. 13th in Korea.

5 of 10 Korean players, and 3 of 5 Chinese players advanced to the quarter finals. Unfortunately, the only Japanese player Yamashita Keigo 9P is eliminated by Lee Sedol 9P. This game was a lot unfavorable for Lee Sedol till the middle, but he turned the tables again. The only female player Park Jiyeon 2P is also eliminated by Kim Jisuk 7P.

In the quarter finals, Lee Sedol and Gu Li 9P faced by lottery.

The quarter final is on Oct. 14, 11:00 (Korean Standard Time), and it will be live broadcast on WBaduk.

The 15th Samsung Cup is managed by JoongAng Dialy and KBS, supported by Samsung. Each player is given 2 hours and 5 times of 1 minute for overtime. The champion prize money is 200 million Won (approx. 171,673 $), and the total prize money is 606 million Won (approx. 520,000 $)
