Chen Shi Yuan and Zhang Zheng Ping from Taiwan Resigned from KBA!
Chen Shi Yuan 8p and Zhang Zheng Ping 1p from Taiwan resigned from the Korea Baduk Association.
Chen Shi Yuan, one of the students of Kwon Kapyong 7p, has played as a player belonging to the Korea Baduk Association since turning pro through the 88th Pro Test (professional qualification exam) together with Joo Hyeongwook 5p in 2000 until 2005 when he went back to Taiwan because of his military service in 2005. After going back to Taiwan, Chen 8p, being a soldier, was given exceptional opportunities to take part in Baduk tournaments held by the Taiwanese Baduk Association (also known as Taiwan Chi Yuan Culture Foundation) and he has played in the tournaments enthusiastically. At the time when he went beck to Taiwan, he was 3p but as winning titles in Taiwan, he advanced to 8p.
Having finished his military service and waiting for the time to come back to Korea, as he became a holder of titles held by the Taiwanese Baduk Association, his return to the Korea Baduk Association has been delayed and finally he has decided to concentrate on playing in the tournaments in Taiwan and offer his final resignation. Chen Shi Yuan 8p has had 13 championships in his career so far.
On the other hand, Zhang Zheng Ping 1p, who turned pro through Women Pro Test (the 14th), has settled in Taiwan running a baduk school and then since it has not been easy for her to play as a player belonging to the Korea Baduk Association, she has decided to resign.
Because of Chen Shi Yuan 3p and Zhang Zheng Ping 1p's resignation, the number of pro players belonging to the Korea Baduk Association decreased to 241 (198 Men and 43 Women)
