Q. Self-Introduction
: Hello, my name is Vsevolod Ovsiienko, and am from Ukraine. I became 11 years old this year, and I became the under 12 Europe Baduk Champion for twice by this year. Besides Baduk, I like reading books and playing board games with my friends. My favorite hobby is to visit other international Baduk events, and I’ve recently started to learn Korean as well!
Q. Why do you play Baduk?
- Baduk is such an interesting game, and it’s another world for me. I like to be stronger as I play the games, and hope to achieve more in the future.
Q. How do you feel about your first participation in the KPMC?
- I’m very glad to participate as the Ukraine’s Representative in the 15th KPMC. Of course, I prefer offline competitions, but it’s also interesting to me to play online. I enjoy playing online Baduk in Tygem once in a while, so I don’t think there’s difficulty.
Q. Since when did you start to play Baduk, and how did you become the Representative of Ukraine?
- I’ve started to play Baduk since 6 years old, and I fell in love with it. In Ukraine, the players need to gain enough points to participate in the international Baduk Competitions. I’ve earned enough points to participate in the KPMC this year, so I could successfully become the Representative of Ukraine.
Hector Paiz(Guatemala) / 1953 / Civil Engineer / 2K
Q. Self-Introduction
- My name is Hector Paiz, and I am an elder (67yrs). I live in Guatemala City and am currently the owner of the company named “PALA”. I’ve joined the Guatemala international Baduk Club since 1998. I’ve participated in the Amateur Baduk Championships at least three times and once in the KPMC.
- When I was young, I usually played Chess, but once I had a chance to play Baduk in Japan, I just fell in love with it. I love Baduk, and like Maths and logics.
- In a single sentence, it’s exciting and also tensing. Most of the players participating in the KPMC must be better than me, so I’m kind of worried, but what’s the experience for!
- I’ve started to play Baduk in 1983, and I haven’t stopped from then. I’ve started kind of late (at the age of 33), and have been playing for 35 years, but I still love playing Baduk, and I want to call it as ‘Amazing’.

Q. Self-Introduction
- I’m Somboun Douangboutdy (Wen). I’m 36 years old and doing personal business. I live in the capital city of Laos. I like playing Baduk, Music, and Badminton. Also, I’m a fan of Manchester United football club.
Q. What is the allure of Baduk?
- I first faced Baduk in the Japan’s animation ‘Ghost Baduk’. Before then, I was interested in solving riddle questions, but once I started to play Baduk, it became my favorite hobby.
- It’s the second time for Laos to participate in the KPMC. I’m excited to participate as the Representative of Laos. Next year, I really hope to visit Korea for the KPMC.
