LEE Sedol 9P, This year is last as a professional player
"I'm considering of leave of absence or retirement."
After finishing the Event Match for 100th anniversary of March 1st Independence Movement, Lee Sedol 9P made a surprise remark.
When we asked a plan and goal to Lee Sedol 9P, He said, "this year is quite different. i started Baduk since i was 6 years old and I became a professional player in 1995. I think this year will be last as a matchmaker. that's why this game was more meaningful for me."
When we asked that it means retirement, he answered "I couldn't determine but I'm considering retirement or leave of absence. Probably I cannot comeback if I retire. So I'm still considering because after I retire, i will not play Baduk anymore."
He originally thought that it was last year. However, He said, "it was very sad for me so I did one more year. It was long time that i considered it." and "(pointing at KE Jie 9P), I thought it will be hard to win against good juniors such as KE Jie, and i felt exhausted. I wish even if I leave, many people will cheer me."
