KE Jie wins Samsung Cup, collecting sixth International Title
Goyang, South Korea – Chinese No.1 ranked player KE Jie 9P won 2018 Samsung World Baduk Mastes for third time on Wednesday.
KE, former champion of 2015 and 2016 Samsung Cup, defeated Korean opponent AHN Kukhyun who defeated YANG Dingxin, LIAN Xiao, and TANG Weixing repetitively to get the chance to challenge KE in the finals.
Although KE lost Game 1 by resignation, he made prompt adjustment and won Game 2 and Game 3. Game 1 was a swept victory for AHN, Game 2 was a swept victory for KE, and the Game 3, the situation was always close, but AHN's 281 was considered as a losing move and let KE take advantage of it. Finally KE seized his advantage firmly and won the Game 5 by 5.5 points.

What is your current expression?
"I am very happy to have 6th international title. and I want to give thanks to championship organizer Samsung and related people. I had a cold going through tough schedules in China. I thought I was in serious danger, but luck was on my side to win this championship.
What do you think of AHN Kukhyun 9P?
"AHN Kukhyun 8P is very strong player both domestic and internationally. I won this time, but it is hard to say I am ahead of him. I am sure that any Chinese players will face hard time playing against him.
How do you feel about your season results?
"This year's result is very satisfying. Winning Samsung Cup put me high confidence myself. There is a public opinion pointing to the comparison of Chinese players and AI on internet. I think it is a feedback from my supporters. I am always grateful for them.
