The round 8 is all between Korea and China. Rank 1 to 4 in Korea got into the round 8 which shows many possibilities for Korea to win. 8

Park JungHwan 9Dan, Kim JiSuk, Lee SeDol and Kang DongYun 9Dan got in to the round 8 of the 2014 SamSung Cup on 14^th of October.

Park JungHwan 9Dan won against Yen Hwan 5Dan by resign with black and got into the round 8 3 years in a row. Kim JiSuk 9Dan won against Lui NaiWei 9Dan by resign with white and Lee SeDol 9Dan won against Liao XingWon 5Dan by resign and Kang DongYun 9Dan won against Len Shao 7Dan by resign.

But Cho HanSeong 9Dan lost against Juo LuiYang 9Dan and Kang SeongMin 3Dan lost against Long Yi 4Dan and Kim SeongJae 6Dan lost against Shi Yue 9Dan.

From Japan, Mulakawa Daiski 7Dan lost against Tang WeiXing 9Dan who is the defending champion.

As a result of round 16, 4 Korean players meet 4 Chinese players in the round 8. Lee SeDol 9Dan meets with Shi Yue 9Dan, Park JungHwan 9Dan meets with Juo LuiYang 9Dan, Kim JiSuk 9Dan meets Long Yi and Kang DongYun 9Dan meets Tant WeiXing 9Dan.

Yu ChangHuk 9Dan who is the director of Korea National Team said that I am satisfied with the result as a whole. As we have rank 1 to 4 all in round 4, I believe at least 3 players can get into the round 4.
