The Spanish Women Championship - Eun-keun Oh 6D
The Spanish Women's Championship was held on 12th and 13th of June at the "La Pedra" which is the biggest Baduk club in Barcelona.
There were 8 women players. 6 of them were Spanish and 2 of them were Korean.
In Spain there are about 50 women players and generally the strength of them is very week. The strongest woman is 5 kyu, the second is 6 kyu and the third is 7 kyu.
The rest of them are lower than 10 kyu.
At the same time, there opened a mini tournament for men, and also 8 players participated.
Finally, there were 3 women players who won three games and lost one game.
So, according to the SOS and SOSOS, the woman champion became
Zurine Otxoa 6k, Gemma Bochaca 5k became the second and Isabel Barros 7k became the third.
Two of the three best women players are married with the strong Spanish players, who are both 3 dan.
The best 3 men players received very little money for the prize.
And, each woman player below the 4th received a Baduk book, the third and the second were awarded two Baduk books and the woman champion was awarded 50 Euros.
It was a very interesting and cheerful tournament.
Everyone enjoyed it and after the prize giving ceremony, they went together to a bar to have lunch and drinks.
