the first Vienna Tournament
There opened a wonderful baduk(go) tournament in Vienna of Austria on 15th and 16th of June. It was celebrated for the first time in Vienna, but they said it would open every year. ^^
The tournament place was just beside a beautiful wide park, Lainzer Tiergarten. It was located at the west end of Vienna, but it took just 20 minutes by metro to the center of the city. It was a nice place to play baduk !
In additin, they offered us all the time free coffee, tea and bread. ^^ It was great ! There was a small restaurant, and on Saturday we could enjoy a cheap and delicious special lunch menu. ^^
We played in 3 rooms, and in a room for 8 players of the top group the Euro Go TV broadcasting staff transmitted all the 4 games of every 5 rounds. It was a fantastic job because usually in most of tournaments just 1 or 2 games are cast.

There were about 90 participants. I also participated in the Paris tournament in April. I was very surprised at the fact that though in the Paris tournament there were only 7 players equal or stronger than 6 dan, whereas in that of Vienna 15 players !! In addition, there were big and abundant prize money. I have never seen a tournament for the last 5 years that had such a many strong players only except that of Vienna !
After 5 rounds Seokbin Cho 7d, a Korean player, got the glorious championship undefeatedly, Ondrej Silt 6d, a Czech best player, the second prize, and Lluis Oh 6d
and Jan Hora 6d got the joint third prizes.

Everybody enjoyed the tournament very much !
Especially using the Monday, I enjoyed the sightseeing which was a very pleasant time. The city of Vienna in the middle of June was beautiful and joyful.
We are already waiting for the next year's tournament of Vienna ! ^^
