Brussels Games Festival during 36 hours
17th~ 18th August, Brussels Games Festivals was held in Brussels during two days of non-stop 36 hours. This event's purpose was introduce various games and was organized by the 'Outpost' game center and the 'La Table' restaurant.
Many board games, Chess, Go, party games, video games were introduced by people or game clubs.
The Belgian Go Federation had a small stand to introduce Go game and explain the rules as well as the origins and history of Go for 2days.
Using small 6x6 boards, people could understand the rule easily and were able to play Go within 10 minutes.
After the six-line Go if someone was feeling more interested in learning, they would play again with a 9x9 Go board.
After learning Go, people said that the rules were easy to learn and felt that the game very interesting.
For people the most interrested in the game, we suggested them to come to one of the 10 Belgium Federation Go clubs to get some free lessons and play more games.
People who already knew Chess and Othello before were very interested in Go.
Also college students who saw Hikaru no Go wanted to learn Go, they understand the rule of Ko and even knew ladder through the comic book.
Families, couples, many students and children were enjoying to play Go and had many questions.
The 18th of August on Sunday, two women who teach children at elementary school, visited the game festival looking for interesting games to teach the children.
They learned the rules and played. After this, they said that this is one of the most interesting game in the festival. This will help the children to develop their thinking and learning capabilities. They might even contact us to teach Go in the elementary school.
This event gave us a chance to teach Go and a way for them to get in contact with the Belgian Go Federation.
If we had more chances like this event, people would understand that Go is a very smart game.
Go players are increasing little by little.
