The 14th Go to Innovation Tournament in Berlin
The 14th Go to Innovation Tournament in Berlin
There opened a interesting go tournament, the 14th Go to Innovation, in Berlin between the 18th and the 20th of November. It has a very different and special system called "Hahn System" to decide the best players. Actually the system was invented by a Corean professor, Sang Dae Hahn.
The score is counted not by the number of winning games but by the number of winning points. For example, if you win by 0.5 point, you get 60 scores and your opponent 40, and if you win by more than 40.5 points, you get 100 scores and your opponent 0. So between 0.5 and 40.5 points each point is one score. Therefore a player of 6 wins and 2 loss can win the champion instead of a player of 8 wins. ^^
There participated about 60 players, and everybody enjoyed the 8 rounds of the tournament. I like this tournament very much. The tournament place is very comfortable, pleasant and nicely installed. Especially there is a restaurant which sells various cheap and delicious food, and from Saturday the draft beer is totally free. ^^
There participated a Korean couple recently married just 2 weeks before, Inseong Hwang 7d and Semi Lee 4d. Even if the new bride won just one game, the new bridegroom lost just one game and finally won the champion!
At the prize giving ceremony, he gave the prize money of 1,000 euros to his wife as the present of their marriage. ^^
