Spanish Championship of 2010 - Eun-keun Oh 6D

During 4th ~ 6th of December there was the Spanish Championship in the baduk club "la Pedra" in Barcelona. 8 Spanish best players had a full league tournament to decide the champion of this year. He would participate in the "World Amateur Championship of 2011" which will open in Japan.
The 8 players are composed as follows ....
* the champion of Barcelona Tournament in February .... one player
* the champion of Sevilla Tournament in March .... one player
* the champion of Madrid Tournament in May .... one player
* the best 2 players of Spanish Open in October .... two players
* the best European ranking player .... one player
* the best 2 players of the Spanish Championship of the last year .... two players
After 7 rounds of 3 days Joan Alemany 3d became a new Spanish Champion.
He is young and studying very hard now, moreover he became a new chairman of Spanish Go Association !!
During the tournament there was a seminar on Sunday by a Korean professional, Sungrae Kim 8d. He gave comments for 3 games of the Championship in detail and humorously. Right after he gave a lecture with two themes of "how to count the liberties in a capturing race" and "the nice movements at some situations".
It was not so difficult neither so easy, it was interesting and very useful.^^
Afterwards he explained about the Internationl Korean Baduk Center in Budapest of Hungary. He is the chairman of the school and the website is www.badukcenter.com
Finally he gave 6 simultaneous games until very late night.^^
Everybody liked the seminar, and especially so he said that he would open a Baduk camp of 5 ~ 6 days in Barcelona in 2011 with some professional players that they were very pleased.
Still the strength of Spanish players is somewhat weaker than that of other European countries like Germany, Romania, Russia and the Czech Republic etc.
But they are studying very hard, so I think someday soon there would appear a new European champion among the Spanish players.^^
