Baduk environment of the Philippine is not as well as America, some European nations, and Thailand such like well organized countries. But now is just beginning of process and they take first step.
The Philippine Baduk Association was established in 2006. Japanese Mr. Izeki, he was the first president, and Korean Mr. Oh was the vice president. They gave full materials and emotional support. In 2010, Mr. Joseph Michael Galero became the new president as first Filipino, and also many capable and young people eagerly support him.
The number of baduk players is about 70 except Korean, Chinese and Japanese. They have regular meet-up in Manila capital city of the Philippine and around 6 people take part in it. Also they have several tournaments. The biggest one is Philippine national championship which selects national player for international competitions. Usually around 20 players participate.
A strongest players group in Manila is composed of 3~4 people between 2 kyu to 5 kyu. But also some more similar level players live in other cities.

The Philippine Baduk Association does many things. They determine a national player, organize a meet-up and put a lot of efforts in advertising Baduk and so on. Sometimes they take part in game exhibition and such an event. Also they are very active in online community.
But nevertheless we have many difficulties for disseminating Baduk.
First, Many people are suffered from poverty. So they can't spend their time and money for enjoying leisure.
Next, Philippine consists of plenty of islands, and the land is also large. Therefore it is difficult to gather many people and hard to control their provinces. Also in Manila, people are widely scattered in many cities, and there always is terrible traffic congestion. So it is not easy to make several meetings in a week unless people really love or study Baduk.
As all these reasons, I expect that WBaduk will be able to help spreading Baduk through Philippines and making many active players. Fortunately PBA is very active in online so if I do my best. I think we will make it.
