More than 70% are Chinese in Singapore but international chess is played more than Baduk. There were two Chinese professional players in the association. They have been teaching for more than 15 years. So most of players know Chinese Baduk terminology and everyone uses Chinese rule. I was not used to Chinese rule but I am getting a hang of it now. I teach in English. Sometimes even Dan player doesn't know the terms like hone, extending, mayo. Mind sport festival was held in Illuma shopping center for 3days in June. It was open to public. There are also Chinese chess, International chess, Bridge and Mensa. Public could join and learn any game. A Baduk competition call the National Quiping cup for secondary school was held there. After being the competition judge, I played simultaneous games. I was surrounded by public and I played 3 hours. It was fun and I enjoyed the time. I played against Zhang Xiang who is one of strongest player in Singapore. He is ranked 6 Dan. After the match we explained our game in front of public. Many people are interested in 'Hikaru no go' and there was a Baduk talk by Dr. Chan. After the Go talk, many people registered for Go classes. 5000 people dropped by the shopping center during mind sports festival. It is very meaningful and a good experience. My friend said that it was the first time that Baduk was promoted to the public. I think it was quite successful. The officials spared no pains to do. I appreciate them for organizing meeting frequently and made the festival successful.
