A letter from Hungary - Ju-yeon Ko 8p
I recently came to the city of Budapest, Hungary with 2 sa bum nim
(Kim sung Rae and Lee Young Sin). They are my seniors in the field of Korean Go players.
There are 2 reasons why we chose here.
1. Accessibility
Although there are numbers of Baduk players in Europe that are eager to go to Asia for making their improvement, it is realistically hard to do so because of distance and visa problem.
2. Price
This part is simple. Compare to West and north, the cost of living in East is cheaper and reasonable.
Considering those reasons, we made a decision to set up the Go school in Budapest located in the center of Eastern Europe with the purpose of spreading Baduk and sharing our abundant experiences ( even though I'm 21 since yesterday, I've been learning this game over 15 years..) Furthermore, this place will be the cornerstone of the Insei for Europeans.
All Europeans who desire to learn Baduk will be well-trained in this place.
Our ultimate goal is making professional players and creating pro-league market.
We had a great opening ceremony with around 20 Hungarian Baduk players for having a little social gathering.
After a successful all day ran in the first Saturday of June, Dia suggested her opinion about making Baduk lecture class once a week and I immediately consented with all my enthusiasm.
Since then, I am giving a pro game review every Wednesday evening.
I can recall encountering the quiet moment which made me desperate, but I believe that I am getting used to skilled by telling students about the games, week by week.
Generally, there are about 10 people in all, not only registrant but also the others who participated just to look into it. I usually try putting my ideas across.
To sum up, I have learned a lot through a month of life and new surroundings.
I suppose it certainly made me a punctual, realistic, and strenuous person. One thing I am anticipating from this center is creating multi-cultural environments so that encourage students to come from all nations. But I do now know future, just wish to this project so- called the Globalization of Baduk, come out a successful and remarkable work.
In addition, I would like to thank all those who helped in the making of all stuff, setting up this place, especially Dia and Dia's family, Alexa, and Peter.
